A competition prize worth £269, a NEW product launch, and More! Find out what Testo has on offer at the HVAC & Refrigeration Show!

Testo have led the ‘smart’ revolution in giving HVAC/R service engineers a wide range of test instruments with Bluetooth connectivity to smartphones or tablet devices, enabling them to work smarter and to gain benefits such as on-site reporting and improved documentation of test results.

Now you have the chance to win a free testo 550 digital manifold worth £269 at the HVAC/R show just by heading over to the Testo stand B39 and putting your details into the draw – the winner will be announced just after the show closes on the 25th January.

The Testo 550 is a 2-port manifold allowing the engineer to get fast and accurate measurements of highside and lowside pressures as well as condensing and evaporation temperatures. The other added bonus of moving to digital manifolds is that the user also gets real time display of superheat and subcooling values as well.

An often overlooked additional benefit of Testo digital manifold’s is that they allow the user to easily update the device for new refrigerants that are introduced via a smartphone or tablet and the Bluetooth app. Currently the testo 550 supports over 60 different refrigerants. Also, the manifold incorporates a temperature compensated leak test function that allows engineers to fully test a system and shows the start/end system pressure and the time of the test.

The free App to support the manifolds also allows on-site documentation of test results with the ability to provide clear and concise reports for clients.

Introducing the NEW testo 440

At the HVAC & Refrigeration show we will be launching a new air velocity & IAQ measuring instrument to the public. The testo 440 combines a compact handheld measuring instrument with user-friendly measurement menus and wide selection of wireless probes – for the versatile and convenient measurement of all air conditioning, ventilation, and indoor air quality parameters.

We will have the new testo 440 and a selection of probes on display at the show. Visit our stand B39 to get hands on with the new product and find out more about its functions and applications.

Smart Probes Refrigeration Set

From the award winning Testo ‘Smart Probes’ range comes the ‘Refrigeration Set’ which effectively turns your smartphone into a digital refrigeration manifold, with clear display of both highside/lowside pressure and temperatures as well as direct readings of superheat and subcooling values – all without requiring any use of traditional temperature/pressure lookup tables, and giving faster, more accurate measurements of a refrigeration systems performance.

Digital Manifolds

For users who prefer a more traditional ‘digital’ manifold type product the testo 550 and testo 557 units provide either a 2-port (testo 550) or 4-port (testo 557) option. Again, these products have Bluetooth communication to the free to download ‘Refrigeration App’ and this allows engineers to view the measurements either directly on the manifold, or remotely up to 10m away on their smartphone or tablet.

With many existing refrigerants having major increases in costs it is more important than ever to make sure that systems are fully pressure tight before filling to ensure no loss.  A key function with the Testo digital manifolds is the ability to perform a temperature compensated tightness test following any work to repair a leak to a system, and this is one area where traditional ‘analogue’ gauge sets can often perform poorly.

Finally, with all the changes going on as part of the drive to refrigerants with lower GWP it is essential that engineers can update any manifolds to suit. Again, with traditional analogue type units this normally means extra cost in purchasing new gauges, however with the Testo digital manifolds any update to the refrigerants tables available is simply done via the Bluetooth connection to the free ‘Refrigeration App, ensuring that refrigeration and AC engineers are always in touch with technology changes.

About the show

Formerly the ACR show, the HVAC & Refrigeration show only comes around every other year and is the UK’s only dedicated exhibition for the refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, heating and heat pump sectors, so don’t miss out!

Venue: Excel London

Want to be in control of all your readings? Download our application example “Monitoring the temperature of foods”

When it comes to the food industry, no matter which area a company works in, food safety is always a major concern. Monitoring temperature is a particularly important part of this. Incorrect climatic conditions can have devastating consequences, leading to wasted stock or worse; a legal dispute.

Within the food industry more and more businesses are opting to use automated temperature monitoring. With systems such as testo Saveris 2 cloud-based WiFi data logger system, continuous monitoring of food temperature during production, processing and sales is now easier than ever.

Testo Saveris Restaurant provides food service operators the ultimate solution for quality and food safety management

When it comes to the food industry, no matter which area a business operates in, food safety is always a major concern. The sheer scale of end-customer demand, coupled with strict time restraints, puts a huge amount of pressure on the food industry to ensure all produce is carefully monitored and regulated from farm to fork. Near enough every point of the process, throughout production, preparation, storage and transport, has potential danger areas regarding spoilage through mismanagement or poor quality regulation.

Testo have long provided some of the most reliable instrumentation to the food sector, to help ensure food safety. Whether it is for spot checks or long-term monitoring, testo instruments help quality managers throughout the food industry to meet their HACCP requirements and give reassurance they are storing and cooking food safely.

Testo instruments for spot checks and long-term monitoring help quality managers to meet HACCP requirements

Whilst testo equipment has consistently proved extremely effective across a range of industries, in a globally networked world, simply taking accurate measurements is only half the battle. The larger, more advanced companies are now seeking comprehensive management of all quality parameters, with intelligent and complete solutions.

Up until now, quality management in quick-service restaurants has involved huge amounts of paperwork and manual documentation, which can be very time-consuming and not at all cost effective. With this type of methodology there is also a high risk of human errors, and quality data can be difficult to analyse properly. This only adds to compliance risks should a quality audit be required.

With the testo Saveris Restaurant’s digital format you can ensure quality checks are completed on time and correctly

In 2017 Testo have launched a brand-new solution, for the restaurant and catering sector, called ‘testo Saveris Restaurant’. Combining intuitive software and precise measurement technology, Testo’s latest solution aims to make daily job processes noticeably easier, safer and more efficient. It allows all paper documents to be converted into a digital format and will help operators demonstrate the highest level of due diligence and ensures quality checks are completed on time and correctly. By removing the need for paper and automating many checks required in a restaurant, it can also help reduce operating costs and improve efficiency.

Key advantages of testo Saveris Restaurant:

  • Paperless thanks to digital integration of the quality handbook
  • Automatic temperature monitoring, immediate alarms and stored correction measures
  • Comprehensive analysis and reporting options

The system itself includes a fully integrated temperature monitoring system, control unit (tablet), probes for spot checks, and a cockpit where all quality data can be accessed. With a testo Saveris Restaurant system in place, you can also incorporate alarm triggered monitoring, which will notify the correct person within the company immediately, should there be a critical temperature fluctuation in one of the fridges for instance. Businesses often leave themselves at risk of incurring needless costs should there be a power cut, or system malfunction. This can lead to wasted stock or worse; a legal dispute. Such costs can be detrimental to both production and reputation (should the tainted stock be distributed) and will ultimately have a negative effect on profit margins.

Admittedly, in the first instance investment is needed for such a system. In the long run, however, it will likely save the business valuable time and manpower. For example, if in the current regime a member of staff is required to go around and take checks at numerous locations, this is a needless additional task which could be used for something more productive. And of course, as mentioned previously, the overriding advantage of employing such a system is to act as a contingency measure and protect your operation in the event of a problem or system malfunction. This could end up saving money in the long run, on wasted stock, potential product recalls etc.

All in all, investing in a digital quality management system like testo Saveris Restaurant will help foodservice providers to maximise efficiency, minimise labour and paper costs, whilst demonstrating the highest level of due diligence at the touch of a button.
