Smart Tightness Testing with a Testo 510i Differential Manometer


Gas tightness testing is an essential operation in safety checking any gas installation, domestic or commercial. It will reveal any leaks in the system and identify potential risks from incorrect pressures and can help to spot wear and tear before it becomes a hazard.

Whilst an analogue u-gauge can be used to carry out the test, there is no proof of a system’s tightness, to provide peace of mind to both the customer and the gas engineer.


s1323-t510The Testo 510i is an affordable digital manometer that allows the installer to carry out gas pipe tightness tests and record the results using a free testo App on Android or iOS devices.

It connects wirelessly to a mobile device via Bluetooth, where the App provides a simple menu to operate tightness tests. Results of the tests can be recorded in PDF or Excel reports. Customer details can be imported from Contacts and added to the report. Reports can be emailed to the customer or to the office for filing.

The Testo 510i measures +/- 150 mbar. With a resolution of 0.01 mbar it can be set to warn the operator if pressure drops by 0.25 mbar, in line with the guidance from IGEM.

The testo 510i is an affordable alternative to current solutions, that offers heating engineers the ability to work smarter and offer a superior service to their customers.

In conjunction with a smartphone or tablet, all heating system temperatures and pressures can be measured and checked. Users can read off their measurement values comfortably in the App installed on the end device.
