Free guide to Legionella testing (whitepaper download)
Time and time again, Legionella in drinking water leads to cases of Legionnaire’s disease. In the UK alone there are typically 300-400 cases a year, 10-15% of which are fatal. And what’s worse is these deaths are caused by a disease which is totally avoidable, simply by regular legionella testing.
The danger often goes unnoticed, but neglecting health regulations can have very far-reaching and devastating consequences. Legionella spread through hot and cold water systems and, if inhaled, they can cause Legionnaire’s disease – a particularly serious lung infection.
If you are an employer, landlord, or anyone in control of premises, you are responsible for health and safety and therefore need to take the correct precautions. Understanding the health risks associated with legionella is the first step, but you must also make certain to monitor your systems effectively.
How can I make sure I’m testing for legionella both regularly and effectively?
To minimise the risk of legionella, water temperature must be properly regulated and monitored. Testo provide a number of instruments for legionella testing and to help make sure water temperature is correctly monitored. The testo Saveris 2 T3 Wi-Fi data logger for example, monitors hot and cold water temperatures continuously, ensuring the correct temperature can be maintained and the Legionella bacteria is unable to survive and multiply.
Example: Legionella monitoring with a testo Saveris 2 Wireless Data Logger
