Detect structural defects and safeguard construction quality

Testo thermal imaging cameras offer comprehensive measurement and diagnosis support in professional energy consultation. Thanks to exceptionally good resolution and high thermal sensitivity, you are provided with a detailed view of your measurement object and potential sources of energy loss, both indoors and outdoors. The optional telephoto lens even makes this possible when you have parts of buildings that are situated too far away for you to take thermographic images of, for example a skylight.

The visualisation of damp areas is of huge significance in building thermography, since this can lead to mould formation. Testo’s patent-pending “humidity image” shows the relative surface moisture for each individual reading in the thermal image, and presents the various danger zones according to an easy-to-follow traffic light principle. You can also use the testo IRSoft analysis software to summarise all the findings very easily in a customised report, which you can present to your customers.

Locating leaks in roofs

Damp areas in the roof structure, particularly flat roofs, store the warmth from the sun for longer than intact areas. This means as the sun goes down the roof structure will cool unevenly. Testo thermal imaging cameras expose temperature differences to pinpoint the exact roof areas with trapped moisture or damaged insulation.

Not every damp wall or roof is caused by a ruptured pipe. Rising damp or penetrating water due to a faulty implementation of rain and drain water flow off can cause damp walls. Moisture damage can also occur from blocked drains or insufficient seepage. Testo thermal imagers find the cause of rising damp or precipitation water entry in a matter of seconds, before water can cause extensive damage.


Track down water damage

Whereas with many methods intrusive investigation may be required, with a testo thermal imaging camera, energy losses, dampness source and leakages can be localised without contact. This saves touching areas you suspect of being damp, thus preventing spread of harmful bacteria.

Preventing mould growth before it becomes noticeable

Mould growth isn’t always noticeable to the human eye. With Testo thermal imagers mould danger is shown on the display before it is actually visible. Endangered areas are shown in red, whilst risk free areas appear in green. This means dangerous mould growth can be counteracted in time – even in tough to reach places.

It is important to remember that mould doesn’t just look horrible, but there are also health risks for any inhabitants. Therefore locating at risk areas promptly becomes particularly important. Using the externally measured ambient temperature and air humidity, as well as the measured surface temperature, Testo thermal imagers calculate the value of the relative surface humidity for every measurement point.
